Reflecting on Vulnerability, Growth, and Staying Authentic

Choosing Presence, Choosing Truth: Opening the Door on My Own Story

Some conversations feel different when you are the one answering the questions. This episode was exactly that. Instead of interviewing a guest, I let my production team turn the mic on me. No outline, no safety net, no plan. Just presence. Just honesty. And just a willingness to stop hiding the parts of myself I have kept quiet for far too long.

Learning to Trust Myself

When I started TURTZED, everything was scripted. I had lists, structures, and fallback questions because I didn’t trust myself to hold a conversation. But the more episodes I recorded, the more I realized the heart of this podcast is presence. Listening. Curiosity. The moments when I ask the question I am afraid to ask and it unlocks an entire story. Every time I let go of the outline, the connection gets deeper.

The Messy Middle of Entrepreneurship

People ask what my days look like. The truth is they start with “what am I even doing?” and end with “somehow I did it.” Building something creative after years in a structured sales world is chaos and magic mixed together. Some days I take steps forward, some days I take steps back, but all of it is learning. All of it is building something I care about. And yes, I have imposter syndrome every single day. But reframing mistakes as lessons has been the biggest shift. You try, you learn, and you keep going.

Seeing the Bigger Picture

Growing up, I had to understand more than a kid should. I learned to connect tiny pieces and zoom out to see the whole picture because no one else was doing that for me. That survival skill became a creative one. It is why I look at stories, people, and ideas the way I do now. It is why TURTZED exists.

Choosing Authenticity Over Fear

My healing journey forced me to look inward. I hit a point where I promised myself I would never go back to who I was at that moment. If backwards meant inauthentic, then forward meant truth. So now I choose the things that bring joy, the things that connect me to people, the things that allow me to show up fully. When you take even one step each day toward what you love, your real self begins to take shape again.

Reflecting Honestly

I used to want someone else to fix things for me. Now I know reflection is what actually moves life forward. How did I respond? Why? What triggered it? Is it about them or something deeper? Reflection helps you grow. Asking for help, helps you survive. Both matter.

What Young Me Would See Today

My team asked what young Charles would think if he walked into the room right now. And the truth is, he would be proud. When I was seven, a fire alarm gave me an excuse not to perform on stage. I carried that fear for decades. But today, I sit in front of a camera and tell the truth about who I am. Not the polished version, not the safe version. The real one.

What I Want to Build Next

I want to keep telling full stories. Not just dramatic headlines, but the parts that help people heal, grow, and feel understood. Every episode, I want to give 110 percent, connect deeply, and create something you can see yourself in. And I want questions from you. I want your curiosity, your voice, your stories.

The Reminder I Hope You Carry

If there is one thing to take from this episode, it is this: share. Be honest. Let people ask the hard questions. When you do, the weight gets lighter, the fear gets smaller, and the support gets louder. You never know who will show up for you once you stop hiding.

You are not meant to carry every burden alone. And you never have to.
